Happening today: Charlotte City Council meets to discuss new mayor - Less than a week after former Charlotte mayor Patrick Cannon resigned after being arrested on corruption charges, Charlotte City Council is holding a much-anticipated meeting today. Officials will discuss and possibly vote on who will be the next mayor of Charlotte. Many names have been dropped including: Jennifer Roberts, James Mitchell, Patsey Kinsey.... We will have continuing coverage of the meeting through the morning and let you know of any announcement throughout the day.
Overnight: WBTV has learned North and South Korea has exchanged missile fire.
The death toll has risen in the Washington mudslide tragedy. Officials have located more bodies now it's a matter of recovering them.
