Emergency personnel face off in hockey for charity

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Local emergency personnel faced off on Sunday in a charity hockey game at Time Warner Cable Arena.  

In the "Salute to Heroes" charity hockey game members of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office played against members of Charlotte Fire and Mecklenburg EMS after the Checkers game.

Officials with the Checkers said sponsorships, donations, and a portion of ticket sales will benefit the families of injured and fallen public service workers from CFD, MEDIC, CMPD and MCSO.

"Salute to Heroes" has raised more than 175,000 dollars in gifts and cash has been raised since 2006.
