OVERNIGHT: Husband killed in standoff

Hello and good morning. It's Christine Nelson here in the WBTV Newsroom. Today is Friday, March 28. Hopefully this email is catching you at the start of your morning. We have a full rundown of stories to talk about this morning. I hope you'll tune in so we can get you caught up on the news of the day.

It was a very intense scene overnight in Lincoln County. A man holed himself up when authorities questioned him about his wife's body being found. What happened next was an intense scene including a standoff and eventual shoot out. We had a reporter at the scene as this was all going down. We'll have more details on the air.

Who's going to be the next mayor of Charlotte? That's the question the Charlotte City Council will try to answer sooner rather than later after federal corruption charges were filed against former mayor Patrick Cannon. WBTV's Astrid Martinez will be live to tell us why we could have an answer as soon as Monday!

A family is asking for prayers this morning after an infant girl in York County has been left with a broken arm, leg and fractured ribs. Now one of her relatives is in trouble for the abuse.

The Oscar Pistorius murder trial has been delayed! The judge made the decision to resume the case next month.

I have to go now and finish going through a few more scripts before going on air. See you on TV!

Christine
