ASHBURN, GA (WALB) -

A six legged insect will draw 20,000 to 30,000 people to Ashburn this weekend for plenty of live entertainment and barbecue.

The 19th Fire Ant Festival sponsored by the city started Friday night in Heritage Park. Organizers say over one hundred vendors will be setting up around downtown Ashburn for the celebrations.

This year, visitors will get to take a hot air balloon for the first time.

"It's gonna be tethered. We'll have it behind the school, the plan is right now," said Ashburn-Turner County Chamber of Commerce President Michael Geoghagan. "That will be decidedly different. It'll carry people up to 100, so they'll be able to see the festival in its entirety."

Friday night was highlighted with live music, and a fireworks display.

A dog show is also slated for the weekend, and there's plenty of activities for the kids like rock climbing walls and bungee jumping.

The festival runs through Saturday. There's no charge for the concert in the park, and there's plenty of free parking.

Arm bands to get into the carnival will be sold for $15.
