Wintry chill settles into region, when will Spring return?

Posted: Updated:
CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

WBTV Meteorologist Al Conklin says high pressure building in across the eastern US will result in quiet but cold weather for the next 24 hours.

Under sunny skies, we'll struggle to get back into the upper 40s this afternoon, only to fall back in the 20s tonight, Conklin says.

Several hours of sub-freezing temperatures are likely Thursday morning, before we rebound into the low 60s for the afternoon hours.

The next frontal system arrives Friday, and this time it's all rain, as showers push across the region.

Unstable air lingers Saturday and so scattered thunderstorms are in the forecast.

Both Friday and Saturday will be above normal, close to 70° if not a little above.

Beyond the weekend front, mild air will stay around into next week, as temperatures are expected to remain above normal.
