Police: 3 teens arrested for armed robbery in southeast Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Three teenagers have been arrested in connection to an armed robbery at a store in southeast Charlotte.

Just before 10 p.m. Monday, police received a call about an armed robbery at Sam's Mart on the 6300 block of Albemarle Road.

The store clerk told officers that two people came into the business, pointed a gun at him, and demanded money. After taking the money, the crooks left the store. The clerk called the police and gave them a description of the robbers.

As an officer was responding to the scene, he saw one a person, later identified as 17-year-old Antonio Worthy, leaving the area. That officer caught Worthy after a short chase and took him into custody.

Detectives interviewed Worthy and soon identified 17-year-old Maceo Royster and a 15-year-old juvenile as suspects.

Royster and the juvenile were located at a nearby home and arrested.

Worthy and the 15-year-old were charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon. Royster was charged with conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Worthy and Royster were taken to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office, and the juvenile was taken to a juvenile detention center.
