LINCOLNTON, NC (WBTV) -

Lincoln County Sheriff's deputies and detectives are investigating more vehicle break-ins between Boger City and Iron Station.

On Tuesday night unlocked vehicles parked at homes on Lariat Drive and Asbury Church Road were entered and several items taken, according to the news release from the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.

At one home on Lariat Drive a laptop computer, backpack and a small amount of cash was taken from a truck.  At the break-in on Asbury Church Road a billfold, driver's license and a small amount of cash was taken from a car.

The other vehicles had been gone through but nothing was missing.

The break-ins were discovered this morning when residents began leaving for work and school.

The break-ins occurred just days after similar break-ins occurred on Highway 27 East near Iron Station on Devine Road, the 4000-5000 block of Highway 27 East and Forum Lane.

Here are some ways to protect yourself from crime:
• LOCK IT OR LOSE IT.   Lock your vehicle every time you leave, even for a short time
• Don't leave valuable items in plain view
• If you place items in the trunk, do it discreetly or before your arrive at your destination
• If your car is parked in a carport or near your home, leave your exterior lights on at night
• If you park on a street, choose a well-lit, open and visible space

If you see somebody acting suspicious or looking into vehicles, call the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office at 704-732-9050, the Lincoln County Communications Center at 704-735-8202 or Crime Stoppers at 704-736-8909.

All tips will be investigated.
