CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Police in Charlotte have arrested a man after he cut off his court-ordered electronic monitor and led officers on a brief chase.

According to Charlotte Mecklenburg Police, 27-year-old Carlton Ardry was ordered to wear the monitoring device in October as a condition of a pre-trial release. On March 13, Ardry cut off that monitor, and detectives immediately obtained warrants for interfering with an electronic monitoring device, lfa, and felony larceny.

On March 25, investigators learned Ardry was at a home on Julia Avenue in north Charlotte. Officers showed up at the home, but say Ardry got into a vehicle and attempted to leave.

Troopers with the NC Highway Patrol tried to stop the vehicle, but Ardry refused to pull over, and a short chase ensued.

Ardry eventually stopped his vehicle, got out and attempted to run away on foot, but was caught and taken into custody.

Officers say he will be charged with the outstanding warrants and other charges related to the vehicle pursuit.
