Officials in Iredell County say the arrest of a man and his girlfriend is expected to put a dent in heroin sales in the area.
After a weeks-long investigation by the Statesville Police Department and the Iredell County Sheriff's Office, 28-year-old Brandon Lamar Adams and his girlfriend, 26-year-old Kayla Latrice Daye were arrested after a search warrant executed at Adams' home turned up more than 170 grams of heroin.
Detectives say that Adams is believed to be a large-scale drug trafficker who distributed the drug in Statesville, Iredell County, and surrounding areas.
They say his arrest will put a dent in heroin distribution in the area.
Both Adams and Daye were arrested and charged with trafficking heroin, maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of selling drugs, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The couple was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center and placed under a $1.5 million bond each.
