STATESVILLE, NC (WBTV) -

Officials in Iredell County say half of the dogs they took in from a puppy mill bust have been sent to local rescue groups to get them into foster care and adoption programs.

Iredell County Animal Services took in 29 dogs out of nearly 60 that were rescued.

The remaining dogs were taken to an animal shelter in Guilford County.

The dogs left at the Iredell County shelter are still getting medical attention.

Officials with Animal Services are meeting with the District Attorney on Monday to discuss possible charges in the case.
