GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) - Reds manager Bryan Price doesn't expect right-hander Mat Latos to be ready for the start of the season.

Latos had surgery to repair cartilage in his left knee on Feb. 14, the day that pitchers and catchers reported for spring training. He is scheduled to pitch in a minor league game on Monday, a week before the opener. Although his knee is fine, he won't have enough time to get for the first week of the season.

The Reds will open the season without closer Aroldis Chapman, who was hit in the head by a line drive and had surgery on Thursday to have a plate installed above his left eye to help fractures heal. Relievers Jonathan Broxton and Sean Marshall won't be ready for opening day, either.
