Student arrested after authorities say student brought gun to Colerain High School

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

Authorities arrested a high school senior on Thursday after he brought a semiautomatic handgun to Colerain High School.

The student, identified as 18-year-old William Rosemond, had a Beretta Tomcat .32-caliber semi-automatic handgun in the school and showed other students while in class, according to court documents. Rosemond was removed from the classroom. An officer found the gun concealed in the student's pants.

Andrew Jackson, superintendent of Northwest Local School District, confirmed the arrest of Rosemond to FOX19. Jackson said the incident was brought to the attention of the administration. The student was immediately suspended and recommended for expulsion.

Colerain Township Police were notified. The student was arrested at the school and taken to the Hamilton County Justice Center.

Students were informed over a loud speaker and parents were sent an email notification.

Jackson would not say if it the gun was loaded. He said there was no threat to students but would not elaborate as to why the student brought the weapon to school.
