Icy conditions possible through midday across region

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect through 11 a.m. Tuesday for the WBTV viewing area, as sleet and freezing rain have ended, but temperatures have fallen to near or below 32 degrees in most communities and so there is a concern for icing on area road, says WBTV Meteorologist Al Conklin.

Use caution and allow a little extra time to get to your destination this morning and you should be OK, Conklin says.

While nothing more than a little drizzle is likely Tuesday, skies will stay fairly cloudy all day long, and a cold north wind will blow as well with highs only in the low-mid 40s.

There may be a few rain showers around Tuesday tonight, but with temperatures above 32, there is very little concern for additional icing, Conklin says.

After the rain moves out early Wednesday, the clouds will follow, but it may take a good bit of the day for that process to fully kick in.

Some sunshine is expected Wednesday afternoon with temps rebounding to near 60 during the afternoon.

The end of the work week looks much better than the beginning, with warmer highs close to 70 degrees.
