Police ID boyfriend fatally shot when he tried to break into home


Police in Charlotte say a man was fatally shot after he tried to break into a home in Charlotte early Monday morning.

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, officers were called to a home along the 3100 block of Morning Drive around 4:32 a.m. Monday morning.

Police say the initial call was for a breaking and entering where the boyfriend of a resident was attempting to break through the front door of the home.

When officers arrived they found the body of 34-year-old Issac Ray Carelock on the steps of the home with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on scene.

Detectives are investigating people who were inside the home at the time of the shooting.

The District Attorney's Office will determine if any charges will be filed.
