Report: Woman uses car panic alarm to stop robbery

A woman in Rock Hill told police say was able to escape being robbed in her driveway after she hit the panic button on her car.

According to a Rock Hill Police report, the 66-year-old woman had just pulled into her driveway along the 900 block of Jefferson Avenue on Tuesday night when she was approached by a man in camouflage shirt and pants.

According to the report, the man pointed a "black long firearm" at her and wanted her purse.

She told officers that she was "going to get her gun and hit the panic alarm" on her vehicle, the report states.  That's when the man ran from her house.

Officers were called out but weren't able to find the man.

The woman described the suspect as a black man between the ages of 17 and 25, 5 feet 10 inches tall, about 160 pounds.
