ROCK HILL, S.C. (WBTV) -

A woman's claim that she was inappropriately touched led to an altercation between a member of her family and the man she accused of touching her. One of the men was stabbed during the fight, police said.

According to a Rock Hill Police report, officers were called to the Executive Inn along the 600 block of North Anderson Road at 1:50 a.m. Tuesday morning after a witness reported hearing someone yell from a nearby room that they had been stabbed.

Joseph Gose, 26, had already been driven to the hospital with a stab wound to his side, police said.

Gose told police the man living next to him, 36-year-old Marcus Hardrick, had stabbed him with a box cutter.

The report states that one of Gose's relatives claimed Hardrick touched her inappropriately.

When she went to retrieve her handbag from another room at the Inn, she saw the altercation between Gose and Hardrick.

Police recovered the box cutter along with other evidence at the hotel.

Hardrick was later arrested and charged with second degree Assault and Battery.
