Diocese orders review of bank accounts at CCHS after possible misuse of funds

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

The Diocese of Charlotte Catholic Schools has hired an independent auditing firm to review the bank accounts of Charlotte Catholic High School.

The review comes after an independent organization, The Charlotte Catholic High School Foundation, notified the diocese earlier this week that funds from the foundation may have been used improperly.

WBTV obtained the letter the diocese sent to parents of students in the school system.

In the letter the diocese says a principal at the school, Jerry Healy, has been placed on paid leave while the review is being conducted. The diocese says this is a common approach and best practice.

The letter goes on to say that no Mecklenburg Area Catholic Schools tuition dollars or money from the tuition assistance program are affected.

During the review all instructional programs will continue as normal.
