Posted: Updated:

Police in Charlotte are investigating after two women were assaulted on a popular walking trail near South Park.

Investigators say the women were jogging on the trail that leads to the tunnel in the 7800 block of Fairview Road, in the Foxcroft area when they were approached by a man who yelled at them to run in the opposite direction.

When the women, who are 26-year-old twin sisters, stopped jogging, the man assaulted both of them. The victims suffered minor injuries.

The attacker is described as a white male in his mid-to-late 20s with a light complexion and a medium build, with "dark eyebrows" and was neat and clean-shaven in appearance.

He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, black athletic shorts, and a green toboggan with cream colored stripes.

Officials say he may have been riding an older style black bicycle.

Police are bolstering their presence in the area and are following several leads in the investigation.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Crimestoppers at (704)334-1600.
