More cold, rain forecast through Friday, weekend a different story

Posted: Updated:
CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Lots of clouds and a little light rain linger around the region Wednesday morning, all of it southeast of Charlotte.

WBTV Meteorologist Al Conklin says we started out right around freezing, but will recover to the low to mid 50s Wednesday afternoon under partly sunny skies.

Dry and cold for Wednesday night and most of Thursday, before more cold rain returns late Thursday, continuing into early Friday, Conklin says.

Lows Wednesday and Thursday nights will be just above freezing and highs both days will be in the 40s.

Keep in mind, model data is suggesting that for the mountains and areas north of Interstate 40, the air Thursday night and early Friday will likely be cold enough to support snow and/or sleet, and some accumulation there may be possible, Conklin says.

Nothing is settled just yet.

If you are not a fan of the cold, damp weather, stick around for the weekend, as both days should be beautiful with highs in the upper 60s.
