March roars in like a lion, brings winter back this week

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

WBTV Meteorologist Al Conklin says this week's forecast is all over the place.

After starting the week at a comfortable 73 degrees Sunday, a strong cold front crashes through the Carolinas on Monday, dropping temperatures down into the 30s by the afternoon and even bringing a chance for a light wintry mix to the area late in the day.

We get a couple of days to catch our breath, as Tuesday and Wednesday will both offer some sunshine, but temperatures will remain chilly and well below the early March average of 60 degrees, Conklin says.

Our next storm system rolls in on Thursday and it will be another cold, raw day but mainly rain is expected. Still, there is a chance for more frozen precipitation mixing in.

Temperatures likely don't get above average again until Friday after today's dramatic drop.
