AT&T looking to fill 130 jobs across NC

AT&T says it has about 130 job openings across North Carolina, including about 60 new jobs, building on more than $1.6 billion the company invested in its wireless and wired networks in the state between 2011 through 2013.

This investment is driving a wide range of upgrades to enhance network speed, reliability, coverage and performance for residents and business customers, the company said in a release on Thursday.

In 2013, AT&T hired more than 1,100 people across North Carolina to keep up with network expansion and retail demand, among others.

The 130 positions the company is filling in North Carolina are a mix of retail sales, technician and call center jobs.

"AT&T's investment is another endorsement of the skills of our workforce and the quality of life offered here in North Carolina," said Governor Pat McCrory in the release. "We're encouraged to see additional job growth as more businesses take note of our simplified tax code and renewed emphasis on education and efficiency within state government. I am happy AT&T will continue to contribute to our state's thriving technology sector."

Advancing its Project Velocity IP (VIP), a three-year investment plan to expand and enhance its wireless and wired IP broadband networks, AT&T in 2013 made 878 network upgrades in North Carolina, including new cell sites, addition of wireless and wired network capacity and new broadband network connections.

AT&T says it also expanded the reach of its network, providing access to U-verse Internet and video services to more than 39,000 new customer locations, and delivering powerful fiber-optic connections to 3,779 business locations at 180 multi-tenant business buildings and business parks.
