CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Troopers in Charlotte have arrested a man they say refused to stop and led them on a high speed chase along Graham Street.

Jackie Dawayne Jones, 36, is charged with felony speeding to elude arrest and driving while intoxicated, according to the NC Highway Patrol.

The incident was reported on Tuesday at 11:23 p.m. in the area of Graham Street and Interstate 85.

Troopers had clocked Jones for speeding and his vehicle did not have a tag displayed.

The chase lasted approximately three minutes and ended when a trooper used his car to spin out Jones' vehicle on Graham Street at Ennis Avenue.

Jones' vehicle went off the right side of the road and struck a telephone pole where it came to rest.

Jones was arrested and taken to the Mecklenburg County Jail.
