Union Co School Board meets to discuss redistricting problem

Posted: Updated:
UNION COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -

Union County parents and leaders are still searching for a solution to school overcrowding that doesn't destroy the school boundary lines across the district.

The proposed redistricting plans have had parents in an uproar for months.

In early February, the Union County Commissioners offered $3 million to the school district to build mobile classrooms to prevent redistricting, but the Board of Education unanimously declined the offer.

The school board is meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Monroe. However, no decision is expected to be made.

Officials say they will make a final decision by April.
