CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Police in Charlotte haven charged three people with the murder of a man who was fatally shot in northeast Charlotte on Monday evening.

According to police, 26-year-old Tony Van Tran was shot along the 10600 block of Northgate Trail Drive on Monday around 6:30 p.m.  This is off Reedy Creek Road near Harrisburg Road.

Jose Mannuel Sosa, 20, Edwin Medel, 21, and Lindy Kompeak Hoeun, 22, were arrested and charged with first degree murder, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and two counts of armed robbery, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found shell casings, but were unable to locate a victim.

A short time later, the officers were informed that Tran had shown up at Carolinas Medical Center-University, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The shooting happened just feet away from where 17-year-old Kydaryune "K.C." Curtis was shot and killed in September 2012.

Police said a second person was also assaulted during the incident. They were treated by Medic personnel at the scene, and are expected to be okay.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call (704)432-TIPS and speak directly to a Homicide Unit detective.
