Detectives in Charlotte have arrested a man in connection to the death of his toddler son.
Shortly before 3 a.m. on Sunday, February 9, officers responded to the 7600 block of Cedar Creek Lane in reference to an unresponsive child. Medic responded and took the two-year-old to Carolina's Medical Center – Pineville where he was pronounced deceased.
Detectives began investigating, and determined that the child had been physically assaulted, and that it had led to his death.
Detectives said that during an interview with the child's father on Monday, February 24, 29-year-old Travis Jamell Pemberton confessed to physically assaulting his son.
Pemberton was then charged with murder and felony child abuse and taken to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.
