Kilah Davenport's mother testifies in Joshua Houser trial

Posted: Updated:

When Kylah Davenport's mother, Kirbi Davenport, got on the witness stand, it was so quiet in the courtroom at times that you could hear a pin drop.

Her former husband, Joshua Houser, is charged with child abuse and is accused of ramming then three-year-old Kylah's head through a wall of sheet rock.

Kirbi broke down and cried several times. Tears flowed the first time she saw pictures inside of what was their home.

She recalled the last time she held Kilah before going to work, on the day the toddler was injured.

"I was her best friend," she said.

Kilah and her grandmother were outside the courthouse when Kirby was on the stand. She remembers what happened after getting to the hospital, and a doctor saying to her that Kilah had 24 to 48 hours to live.
