CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

A college fraternity in Charlotte is under "interim" suspension after local and state officers busted an off-campus house party with underage drinking, officials say.

According to a UNC Charlotte spokesman, campus police were contacted by officers of the NC Alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE) and CMPD DUI Task Force after a traffic stop near the campus on Saturday night.

Officers then went to an off-campus party at the Chi Phi Fraternity house, which is located off campus along E. Mallard Creek Church Road.

Officials told WBTV that 75 citations were issued at the party and several people were arrested for underage drinking and DUI.

During the party bust, the Charlotte Fire Department used what officials called a "breeching device" to unlock the doors at the frat house.

University officials say the Chi Phi Fraternity chapter at UNC Charlotte is currently under interim suspension pending completion of the investigation.

UNC Charlotte Police and Public Safety and the Dean of Students office are investigating.
