Fire Marshal investigating garage fire at home of city fire inspector

GASTONIA, NC (WBTV) -

The Gastonia Fire Department responded to a house fire at the home of a city fire inspector Friday morning.

The fire was reported on Pine Bark Court and Junius Street, according to the news release from the Gastonia Fire Department.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke showing from the garage end of the house.

The 25 firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire limiting the fire damage to the garage area of the house.

The rest of the house sustained some smoke damage, according to the release.

The garage had been converted to a living room.

There was an estimated $105,000 damage to the home.

The homeowner is a fire inspector for the City of Gastonia and was at work at the time of the incident.

The Gaston County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the fire.
