One paratrooper was killed and two others were seriously injured during a training exercise at Fort Bragg early Friday morning.
Fort Bragg officials said Pfc. James Groth, 22, of Ethal, Wash., a cannon crew member, was killed. Groth was pronounced dead upon arrival at Womack Army Medical Center, according to the Army.
Groth is survived by his wife Jordan Nicole Groth and his parents, Wayne and Billie Groth. He enlisted in the Army in 2012.

Spc. Scott Yeates, 30, of Sanford, Fla., a cannon crew member is in serious but stable condition at WAMC, according to officials.
Five other soldiers sustained minor injuries and were later released from WAMC Friday.
The Army said the injured soldiers were Staff Sgt. Gonzalo Manriquez, 31, of Babson Park, Fla., the howitzer section chief; Sgt. Keith Robinson, 28, of Fayetteville, N.C. a supply sergeant; Sgt. Jonathan Handwerker, 30, of Dayton, Ohio, a cannon crew member; Spc. Shawn Bates, 22, of Sanford, N.C., a cannon crew member; and Pfc. The soldiers were in the 82nd Airborne Division's 18th Fires Brigade and were conducting artillery live-fire training with an M777 light, towed howitzer.
"Losing a Trooper is heartbreaking. Pfc. Groth will be missed by his friends and fellow Soldiers in the battalion. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Groth family and those that were injured during these difficult times," said Lt. Col. Joseph O'Callaghan, Commander, 3rd Battalion, 321st Field Artillery Regiment.
Cory Muzzy, who lives in Sampson County, was in good spirits Sunday when WNCN News talked with his wife, Michelle Antoinette-Besaw Muzzy.
"He's doing great. He is joking around. He knows all the things that are wrong with him. But he is still in great spirits about it," she said.
A Wounded Warrior Fund has been set up to help with Muzzy's recovery.
