NCDOT closing two lanes of I-485 for pavement repairs

Posted: Updated:
CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

The N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close two lanes on the I-485 Inner Loop between South Boulevard (Exit 65) and I-77 (Exit 67) today from 1 to 3 p.m. for pavement repairs.

The left lane will remain open for motorists while crews fix potholes that formed during last week's snowstorm.

This section of the interstate is part of the I-485 widening project to add one lane in each direction between I-77 and Rea Road. Because construction is ongoing, the contractor will take care of the necessary repairs.

NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.

Know before you go by calling 511, the department's free travel information line, or get real-time travel information online. NCDOT also offers travel information for motorists and ferry passengers on Twitter.
