Charlotte schools in session today

Good Morning! It's Monday, February 17. This is Christine Nelson from the WBTV Newsroom. I wanted you to get a first look at the stories we're working on for WBTV News This Morning from 4:30-7:00 a.m. Don't forget our live, local news coverage continues from 7-9 a.m. on our sister network, Bounce TV.

TODAY: School is in session for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. They typically would have been off for President's Day but today and tomorrow will make up snow days from last week. What about make-up days during spring break? We'll let you know where things stand on whether that controversial decision will be changed.

LATER: The trial begins today for Joshua Houser. He's the man accused about beating his step-daughter Kilah Davenport so severely she has permanent head injuries. WBTV's Astrid Martinez is live with the details.

Plus, a local mother is coming forward for the first time talking about action she's taking after her son died of carbon monoxide poisoning at a Boone hotel. We'll tell you what Jeffrey Williams' mother will be doing to keep this tragedy from happening to someone else.

No more snow falling from the sky. But you'll notice a lot left over on the ground! We'll tell you what's happening in the forecast that will make the winter weather we had last week a distant memory.

So many more news stories to cover for you. Join me and whole gang, John Carter, Al Conklin and Sammi Jo Francis for the most reliable news, weather and traffic!
