PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Officials reopened 19th Avenue at the Interstate 17 underpass after a collision involving a semi carrying a load of gravel early Tuesday morning.

Phoenix officers had tried to stop the driver of a sedan near 15th Avenue and Roeser Road before he collided with the semi at the underpass. He was taken to a hospital with what was believed to be a broken leg.

Officers also said the suspect showed signs of impairment, and that tests were pending.

The road was closed for several hours while the scene was cleaned up and the gravel was transferred to other trucks.
