PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A Maricopa County Sheriff's Office posse member in the Intensive Care Unit for 45 days is listed in critical condition after he was shot in a Dec. 31 incident.

Phillip Grigg, 63, has been in and out of surgery since being shot in his chest at close range and has undergone multiple surgeries in an effort to save his life. He is currently in a medically-induced coma, the MCSO said Monday night. Grigg is a father of two and grandfather of three.

Officer Scott B. Sefranka, 34, was critically wounded and was released from the hospital and continues to recover from his wounds. Sefranka has been on the Phoenix police force since September of 2006.

Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the armed robbery and shooting.

Police said Roger Sharp, 26, and David Murray, 36, robbed two employees of the Pink Rhino Cabaret at gunpoint of $18,000 in the parking lot of an IHOP restaurant at 2501 N. 44th St. about 2 p.m. The employees were on their way to deposit the club's proceeds.

The suspects took off in a maroon Sedan when a Phoenix officer in a marked vehicle with a civilian observer saw the getaway vehicle and tried to make a stop.

The suspects sped off and slammed into a white pickup truck driven by the posse member at 56th Street and Thomas Road.

After the crash, Sharp, who was driving the vehicle, came after the officer. Grigg, who was the driver of the pickup truck, got out of his vehicle to help subdue Sharp.

During the struggle, Sharp took the officer's gun and shot the officer and posse member, according to police.
