Marcus Kauffman honored on Capitol Hill on Friday

SALISBURY - A North Carolina Congressman is honoring Marcus Kauffman.

Kauffman is the Rowan County volunteer firefighter who died after being shot during a burglary at his home in western Rowan County.

Congressman Richard Hudson, a Republican representing the 8th Congressional District,  spoke about Kauffman on the House floor, saying "Kauffman…was an outstanding citizen."

Hudson said Kauffman "will be remembered for his extraordinary heroism and devotion to his family in the face of danger."

Kauffman's wife, Maryann, is due to give birth to their son this month.
