Hip but cold

Snow's gone, frigid air isn't. Get ready for another very cold night. Hi everyone, this is Paul Cameron in the WBTV Newsroom. Eric Thomas says we'll be pushing 10-degrees in some areas tonight. That turn make those wet spots on the secondary roads into skating rinks, so it's no wonder so many school systems are taking tomorrow off. Check WBTV.com for a complete list of closings.

Did you take notice of what happened on the interstates in Atlanta? Frozen gridlock stranded thousands of vehicles with some people waiting in line 12 hours, while others parking and walking. Houses and businesses near exits turned into warming and overnight shelters. Tonight, city and state officials are hearing criticism for not acting soon enough to help prevent what became what locals are calling, "Atlantactica."

For many, today was a play day with kids who were out of school. At 11:00, I'll take you on a Sky-3 tour of the Charlotte area to see frozen roads, icy ballparks and adults having as much fun on sleds as the kids.

By the way, the "onion" published a tongue-in-cheek article about a man who realizes he's moved to Charlotte to (gasp) stay for life. That got us thinking about how cool Charlotte might be in the minds of those who live here. And that's our trending question tonight-- yes or now, is Charlotte hip? Head over to WBTV's Molly Grantham Facebook page if you'd like to take part.

Then, please join us for WBTV News at 11:00!
