After 1 year at Union Academy, Brad Hoover will be moving on to Marvin Ridge to become their new head football coach. The move was made official on Friday.
Last season at Union Academy was Hoover's 1st ever as a head coach and he made quite a debut. The Cardinals went 6-6 and made it to the 2nd round of the state playoffs.
It was a Cardinal team that had to replace a 16 hundred yard rusher and broke in a new QB.
The Cardinals offense averaged 25 points per game while the defense shutout 5 opponents. UA would finish 5th in the Yadkin Valley Conference with a 4-4 record.
Hoover takes over a Marvin Ridge program that went 2-9 last season and finished last in the Southern Carolina Conference with a 1-4 record.
Before that, the Mavericks had a 5 year stretch where they never had a losing season and from 2009-2011, won at least 9 games. They won a conference championship in 2009.
Hoover is the 4th coach in Marvin Ridge history. The school fielded its first team in 2007.
