Rescue crew says dog found in freezing temps expected to pull through

MOORESVILLE, NC (WBTV) -

A Lake Norman rescue group says a dog found outside in freezing temperatures is expected to pull through.

A veterinary technician found a male Beagle, later named George, in Alleghany County about a week ago.

George was outside in temperatures hovering around 15-degrees, looking for food.

Volunteers says when he was found, George was hungry and he hadn't been fed. Now he's contracted a serious case of pneumonia.

A vet says George is sick because he was outside in the cold for too long.

George left a veterinary hospital in Huntersville on Saturday.

George's foster caregiver says he is on a nebulizer which helps his cough and breathing. The dog uses it twice a day for 10 minutes each time.

George is on antibiotics as well.

Vets say George is expected to pull through.

Lake Norman Animal Rescue has started a YouCaring.com page in an effort to raise money for George's medical bills which currently total around $1,400. They say that bill is expected to rise as they treat George.
