Cold, colder, coldest

Hi everyone, this is Paul Cameron in the WBTV Newsroom. If your teeth aren't chattering when you step outside, they will be my morning. Eric Thomas is predicting the coldest night of the current arctic air blast. It's cold enough to close and delay many school systems, including Charlotte-Mecklenburg.

A daycare catches fire and kids make a run to safety. The fire was caused by charcoal from a cookout left in a trash can. Tonight, our reporter David Spunt is talking to one father who says his daughter was lucky to escape.

Activists are planning a march on the courthouse Monday when the state will resubmit charges of voluntary manslaughter against CMPD Officer Randall Kerrick who shot and killed an unarmed man. Tonight, they met to express their anger over the non-indictment of Kerrick earlier this week. Brigida Mack will have the latest from the rally.

The Pentagon is offering help to Russia to prevent a terror attack at the Winter Olympics. Islamic militants are threatening to strike Sochi. U-S Military officials say they're willing to share intelligence with Russian troops that can help spot roadside bombs.
