CMS on two-hour delay due to bone-chilling temperatures

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will operate on a two-hour delay on Friday, Jan. 24.

Buses will run routes and schools will open two hours later than the normal time.

CMS staff made the decision due to severe weather conditions in the Charlotte area. Reports indicate that temperatures will be extremely low during the morning hours.

Opening schools on the delayed schedule will allow transportation and maintenance staff time to prepare buses and facilities before the school day starts.

All before- and after-school enrichment programs (ASEP) will begin at the normal time. All after-school and athletic activities will operate on the normal schedule. Schools will dismiss at the normal time.

Parents are encouraged to dress students warmly, in layers and with hats and gloves.
