Main water line in town of Clover burst, crews working to restore service

CLOVER, SC (WBTV) -

The main water line serving the Town of Clover busted this morning around 8:30 a.m.

Town Administrator Allison Harvey said in an email that crews are on-site assessing the problem and working to fix the line.

Clover water customers are experiencing either a drop in pressure and/or total loss of water and will continue to do so until the line is repaired.

A boil water advisory is in effect until further notice.

Town crews have isolated the issue.  A section of the pipe split and will require approximately 20' of replacement line.  This work will take awhile to do.

To be safe, the Town is advising customers to vigorously boil their water for at least one full minute prior to drinking or cooking until otherwise notified by the Town of Clover.

Seven of the 10 schools in the Clover School District are affected.

Elementary schools are dismissing at 1 p.m. and middle and high schools at 2 p.m.

Bus transportation will still be provided.

Staff will be at schools until all children are picked up.

Our elementary school tutoring and YMCA programs are cancelled Wednesday.

All high school parent meetings Wednesday evening will be rescheduled. Tonight's 9th and JV boys basketball games have been moved to Rock Hill High School.

It is unknown at this time how long it will take to repair the line, Harvey said.
