Police: 2 pedestrians struck in road rage incident, woman charged

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Two people were struck by a vehicle in north Charlotte after what police are calling a road rage incident between two drivers.

The incident happened on LaSalle Street over I-77 around 4:15 p.m. Friday.

Police say that two drivers who knew one another were involved in a road rage incident. One of those drivers struck the two pedestrians, who were filling up a vehicle with a portable gas tank.

The two struck were taken to the hospital with serious injuries, Medic told WBTV. One of them, officials said, is Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities Department worker who was off duty.

One of the two drivers, 23-year-old Jessica Ekwuruibe, was charged with assault, felony hit and run, reckless driving, and no operators license. She was given a $4,200 bond.
