Two charged with trafficking meth in Catawba Co.

Investigators in Catawba County have charged two people with trafficking methamphetamine in the county.

Reginald Curtis, 34, of Morganton, and Montreill Davis, 21, of Morganton, were arrested after a routine traffic stop on Thursday, according to the Catawba County Sheriff's Office.

On Thursday, Jan. 16 at about 2:40 pm, Catawba County deputies stopped a black, 2013 Chevrolet Impala with Georgia plates at the intersection of August Street and September Lane off Springs Road.

The driver was identified as Reginald Curtis.

A passenger in the car was identified as Montreill Lamar Davis.
 
A search of the vehicle found approximately 11 ounces of methamphetamine with a street value of approximately $16,000 located in a shoe box found in the front passenger seat floor board, according to the release. 

Reginald Curtis attempted to flee on foot, but Deputies apprehended him with the use of a Taser. 

A search of the vehicle also located a stolen pistol reported stolen by Longview Police Department.

Both parties were arrested and transported to the Catawba County Sheriff's Office narcotics division. 
 
Reginald Curtis was charged with Possession of Firearm by Felon, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Felony Maintaining a Vehicle for a Controlled Substance, Trafficking in Methamphetamine by Transportation, Trafficking in Methamphetamine by Possession and Possession with Intent to Sell and Distribute Methamphetamine. 

Reginald Curtis was taken before Magistrate Kim Sigmon and jailed under no bond.
 
Montreill Davis was charged with Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Felony Maintaining a Vehicle for a Controlled Substance, Trafficking in Methamphetamine by Transportation, Trafficking in Methamphetamine by Possession and Possession with Intent to Sell and Distribute Methamphetamine.

Montreill Davis was taken before Magistrate Kim Sigmon and jailed under no bond.
