Two people arrested in Lincoln Co. after vehicle chase that started in Hickory

LINCOLNTON, NC (WBTV) -

Lincoln County Sheriff's deputies detained five people after they crashed the vehicle they were operating in western Lincoln County.

Lincoln County Sheriff's deputies were informed by Hickory Police to be on the lookout for a vehicle they had chased to the county line around 4 a.m. Thursday, according to a news release from the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.

Officers found the vehicle wrecked in a field on Lewis Road just off Reepsville Road in western Lincoln County.

The suspects in the vehicle had fled the scene and deputies received confirmation a short time later that the vehicle had been stolen in Hickory.

Around 8:45 a.m. the Lincoln County Communications Center received a call from a resident in the 1600 block of Daniels Road that three people came up to the residence and were sitting on the porch.

Deputies arrived on the scene and took three people in custody without incident and transported them to the Sheriff's Office.

The other two suspects were located on the steps of a nearby church.

Hickory Police were contacted and advised Lincoln County to detain the suspects and they would send officers to the Sheriff's Office.

One suspect was arrested on a probation violation by Lincoln County deputies and a second suspect was taken into custody by Hickory Police on a probation violation out of Catawba County.

Three people were released without charges.

Hickory Police are continuing the investigation.
