UPDATE: Portland Police say 43-year-old Thomas Hjelmeland died at a Portland hospital Thursday afternoon.

Portland police identified a man who shot three people at a Portland strip club last weekend as 43-year-old Thomas Hjelmeland, who remains in critical condition at a Portland hospital.

Hjelmeland hasn't been charged with a crime yet in the shooting at Mystic Strip Club on Southeast Stark Street.

Two of the people wounded in the shooting were released from the hospital over the weekend, but one, Mystic Strip Club security guard Brian Rizzo, remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

The club posted a four-paragraph message to its Facebook page Monday night explaining what happened moments before the shooting. The club's owner told FOX 12 by phone that the message was posted to clear up rumors and speculation about what happened Saturday night.

Rizzo refused to let a man inside the club after he started making racial slurs and threatening a group of men that had just gone in, according to the Facebook post. Rizzo asked the man to leave. The person tried to go inside again a few minutes later, but Rizzo told him to leave. Rizzo then told staff members that he had a bad feeling about the man.

The club said the man returned 30 minutes later wearing new clothing and a Halloween mask.

Police said Hjelmeland started shooting and critically injured Rizzo.

After three people were wounded, someone else at the bar pulled out their own gun and shot Hjelmeland as he walked out the door.

Hjelmeland has a long arrest record, including a March 2013 arrest in Multnomah County for unlawful use of a stun gun, tear gas or mace, along with arrests in Washington County and Clackamas County dating back to 2009 on charges including reckless driving, assault and violating a stalking order.

Saturday's gunfire isn't the first shooting at the bar. Two years ago, a man was shot and killed in the parking lot, and three people were arrested in that case.
