Brave Panthers fan dines with 200+ 49ers faithful

49ers fans descended upon Charlotte in a big way Saturday night. Red and Gold jerseys packed the Buffalo Wild Wings in the Uptown. But in the middle of the 49er faithful, a spot of Panther blue was visible.

"They going to have their party tonight, said Brain Penn. "But we'll have our party tomorrow."

Penn, a Panther fan from Washington, D.C., expected to be welcomed to dinner with cheers and high fives.

Instead, he dined with the enemy.

"They're making fun cause I'm the only fan here," said Penn, who was jokingly mobbed by cheers and jeers all night long.

Penn says when he walked into the restaurant he only had one thing on his mind.

"Am I in San Francisco? Or am I in Carolina?"

It's a fair question, since the Buffalo Wild Wings in the uptown was packed covered in red jerseys. Penn was the only Panther fan in the building.

"I've never seen this much red and gold in one place in my life," said Penn. "It's crazy."

Marlon Allen, a flag waving 49er fan, said this is how their fans always travel.

"We just come together and you just find die hard niner fans everywhere," said Allen, who says the fan base used social media to connect.

"Facebook, social media has captivated our movement," said Allen. "Now I have a huge family."

Penn was all alone but even though he was outnumbered he didn't waiver in his game prediction.

"I'm going to be honest," said Penn. "It's going to be a tough game but I feel like we can pull it out with our defense."

The flock of 49ers fans say they're going to turn up the volume even louder tomorrow before kickoff at Bank of America Stadium.

It will be the Panthers job, like Penn did Saturday, to drown them out.
