After heavy rain and thunderstorms moved through this morning second round of storms is in the forecast later today.
The rain this morning was caused by a prefrontal trough moving through the region, and the cold front itself could bring another round of strong, even severe thunderstorms back later this morning and into the afternoon.
The front is expected to reach Charlotte mid-afternoon, giving us enough time to warm into the mid 60s. The very warm and humid air mass in place combined with a low level jet over the region could bring strong, damaging winds as the front moves into that air mass.
Localized flash flooding or even an isolated weak tornado is also possible.
