Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams honored by Komen Charlotte

 Panthers Runningback DeAngelo Williams is getting honored for work he does off the football field.

The star veteran player says he's honored Komen Charlotte is naming him as one of 2014's "Pink Tie Guys" for his efforts towards the breast cancer cause in our community.

"Kinda one of those things you just do and you don't care if anyone's watching," he told Anchor Molly Grantham.  "I do it for the cause. Not anything else.  For them to see me doing the work and present me with a ‘Pink Tie' is amazing."

Williams mom is a two time survivor.  Her five sisters – his aunts – all died from the disease.

"It affects my life," he said.  "It's affected my life for many years.  It was there before football."

The 2014 class of "Pink Tie Guys" will be honored January 18th at Laugh for The Cure, a fun Saturday night fundraiser at Knight Theater in Uptown Charlotte. 

Comedienne Tammi Pescatelli is headlining the stand-up show.  There will be cocktails, a silent auction, food and loads of laughs. 

All proceeds go to fund breast cancer research, screening and treatment support for people battling breast cancer in our area.
