One more night

Hi everyone, this is Paul Cameron in the WBTV Newsroom, hope your pets and pipes are safe from the deep freeze tonight. One more night of the polar vortex and then we're back to the usual January temperatures-- and we could see a 60 when the Panthers play on Sunday.

By the way, Duke Energy reports last night was a record for electricity consumption. Duke is asking people to voluntarily cut back and conserve their kilowatts tonight.

A minor miracle that Charlotte Mecklenburg police officer Shane Page is on the mend after getting shot twice shoulder and lower abdomen while trying to arrest a violent offender. 31-year old James Lewis is also in the hospital after police shot him. Police also arrested 21-year-old Kirstie Barratt and charged her with obstructing justice.

What do you supposed the mayors of Charlotte and San Francisco bet on the 49ers-Panthers game Sunday? Safe to say it revolves around the loser wearing the winning colors and an exchange of culinary treats-- Carolina BBQ vs. sourdough bread and Ghirardelli chocolates. Yum, yum, but that sure wouldn't fit with my New Year's resolutions.

I like the planner big new video boards the Panthers plan to install this offseason to Bank of America Stadium.
