Deputies: Couple claimed break-in, arrested for insurance fraud

Deputies in Lincoln County say a couple claimed their house was broken into while they were on vacation, now they've been charged with insurance fraud.

According to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to a home along the 100-block of Springwood Drive, in November, to the report of a breaking and entering.

Scott and Rebecca Nazworth, both 37, told deputies that they had just returned home from an out of town trip to Memphis, Tennessee and discovered that a break-in had occurred their home.

Scott Nazworth told deputies that a safe with booklets of coins, two diamond rings and $150 in rolled up change was missing.  He also said a PlayStation, tool set and other items taken in the reported break-in.

The Nazworth's filed insurance claim with Liberty Mutual and then later canceled it.

Several days later, detectives learned that the report that being filed was false. They also found the items reported stolen in a closet at the Nazworth home and placed them into evidence.

The couple was arrested on Monday and placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center.

Scott Anderson Nazworth, 37, was charged with one felony count each of Insurance Fraud and Conspiracy.  He also is charged with one count of misdemeanor Filing a False Police Report.

Rebecca Mabe Nazworth, 37, is charged with one felony count of Conspiracy.

Rebecca Nazworth was released on an unsecured bond while Scott Nazworth was released on a $3,000 secured bond.
