WEATHER ALERT: Winter warnings, bitter cold wind chill, schools closed/delayed

Good morning! This is the day to pay really close attention to the forecast. This is Christine Nelson with quick look at the stories making headlines today. WBTV News This Morning is live now. Tune in so you know what's going on!

WEATHER ALERT: There will be a mixed bag of weather issues to deal with today. In a nutshell we're expecting winter weather warnings, wind chill, dense fog, rain early, near freezing temps in Charlotte, single digits in the mountains by afternoon, record lows tonight, and snow in the mountains.

Here is the list of school delays/closures:
CLOSED: Ashe, Avery, Mitchell, Watauga and Yancey County Schools.
3-hour DELAY: Alexander, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba and Hickory City Schools.
2-hour DELAY: McDowell County Schools.
